Flower Freight is designed to work alongside Metrc, not replace it. Metrc provides regulated transfer/package context; Flower Freight adds a transport execution layer around loading verification, custody, route evidence, temperatures, receiver acceptance, and historical retrieval.
The transfer is the anchor
A transport workflow should begin with the correct regulated transfer, not with a disconnected load record that has to be reconciled later. Package verification and shipment execution are strongest when they are bound to the same transfer context.
Flower Freight’s architecture is designed to bind an existing transport/load to the relevant Metrc transfer rather than treating Metrc as a separate afterthought.
Verify the physical scan set against the expected packages
At loading, the warehouse team should be able to scan the packages physically entering the vehicle and compare that set with the packages expected for the transport.
That is a practical bridge between inventory-system truth and dock-floor reality. The driver then accepts custody only after the verification gate passes.
Metrc receipt and physical receiver acceptance are complementary
Metrc can reflect transfer receipt as part of the regulated inventory workflow. The delivery operation can still preserve the physical receiver event: who accepted, when, what discrepancies existed, and what signature or acknowledgement was captured.
Those records serve different operational purposes and should not be confused.
Build reconciliation into the workflow
When the regulated system and the physical transport record disagree, the system should fail clearly and surface the discrepancy instead of silently treating the load as verified.
Flower Freight’s value is strongest when it makes that reconciliation visible before departure and preserves the result after delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Does Flower Freight replace Metrc?
No. It is designed to work alongside Metrc.
Why scan packages if they already exist in Metrc?
The scan verifies that the packages physically being loaded correspond to the expected transport set.
What happens after the receiver completes the transfer in Metrc?
Metrc has told Flower Freight that a completed receiving action causes the shipper’s outgoing transfer to reflect as received and no longer active; Flower Freight can use that status as part of reconciliation while preserving its own execution record.
